You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

It is VERY important to exercise so I carry on regardless.
Exercise needs to be low impact and continuous - no stopping in between sets.
I actually find walking hurts a lot so the gym is better for me and riding is the best exercise ever and the only one which doesn't hurt.
I understand that swimming is a great option also.
The biggest hindrance to me is not the pain but the exhaustion - actually getting there is a mission some days.
I think this is a tough question. Most Fibromyalgia patients are in so much pain that they can't even think of exercising...it is shown that with any illness if you get our blood flowing then your pain level decreases. It is finding something you can do without causing more pain...
Swimming is one of the best exercises for people with Fibromyalgia. Once your in the water you are basically weightless so that is why it is a helpful exercise. Dont however, over do it.. Gentle exercises in the pool or even in a hot tub or spa. Just to get things going...

Makes me feel worse if I try to exercise like I did before I became ill.
I think for most Fibromyalgia patients it will hurt at first like anyone..but once you do some it starts to feel better. Remember if you don't use it you will lose it. Well, we have to use our muscles or they will be sore when you use them. It is a double edge sword at first. Of course it will hurt but that is because you haven't used them. I am in no way saying go out and run a marathon. Just simple stretches and leg lift and what have you..in the pool.
