Every day Aleve

I had a knee replacement last February. I was in agony for several months. Once I was off the narcotic, my doc suggested Tramadol (which I was already taking for fibro) and 2 Aleve. I've been doing this every day for a year. Even when my knee pain subsided, I found that the Aleve plus the Tramadol worked better on my fibro pain.

However, I just noticed on the Aleve label that it says "should not be taken for more than 10 days." Just wondering if anyone here has taken Aleve continuously for a long time and if so, have you suffered from any long term side effects?

Lots of people take NSAIDS continuously. It's more of a legal thing, I think. That saying, you should run it by your doctor. I've been taking Advil everyday for 30 years.

Three days on naproxen sodium and I'm doubled over. It's a family thing - my son developed a bleeding ulcer after three days and needed a blood transfusion.

I can only take the Cox2 inhibitors. Having said that, I've taken first Vioxx, then Celebrex, then Mobic continuously for 15 years with no ill effects.

Thanks so much for the replies. The reason I ask the question is because for the last 4 days my stomach has been "upset," with no other symptoms; I'm sure it's not a virus. I see my doctor next week for an unrelated sleep issue. I will talk to him about this.

I have seen a lot of warnings about Aleve. I had a friend who took it for a couple years, finally dr took her off of it and said it should be banned,

Maybe you can google and read about it a reputable sites.
