I saw a rheumatologist when I was first trying to hunt down my pains and his guess (that we never tracked down) was psoriatic arthritis. I do notice that my symptoms lighten up when I can get the psoriasis knocked back.
The most helpful shampoo product I have found is the Nutrogena T-Gel for about 8 bucks at Wal-mart. Be sure and leave it lathered on the roots for at least 5 minutes. DO NOT let it get in your eyes if at ALL possible. It burns horribly.
Sunshine helps and if nothing else, make sure you are getting enough Vitamind D (which we usually get from sunshine.)
Aveeno bath is very good and when I shower I spray the Avon SSS all over my body. Also I tried a new sample product by Dove that has moisturizers, it is great and my skin is so soft tonight. Smile.I have dry skin whole body, face, neck and scalp. I use the Head and Shoulders moisturinzing shampoo when my scalp itches but not for every time I Shampoo, only about twice a month.
Wow, vitamin D?? I'm Vitamin D deficient and live in Florida! hah
I never thought about that as a cause of itching but that could be it?
Now I get 50.000 units every week plus calcium 2000 morning and night.
Friend, get a Vitamin D test, my insurance paid for it and lots of my friends came out deficient. We all wear lots of sunscreen! We burn easily, and I've had sun poisoning 3 times so I am covered with sunscreen.
Last Resort Idea:
Go to a day spa and get a sea salt scrub down massage. I was scratching so much and had skin peeling, I was desparate, and it worked, took off all the dead skin and then they lay on the moisturizers. It cost $40.00
Good luck, I know your pain. xoox
