i have applied for disability, when i spoke with my worker she said there was nothing for me to take to my dr in way of paperwork. that they would do all the paperwork. i am confused, don't they need my dr's approval of my being disabled? i do not have a letter from my rheumy or pcp. what should i do?

I'm pretty much blind as to how the disability process works. I applied in Jan. and was denied. I am going to appeal just as soon as I educate myself a bit more. So i'll be looking forward to everyone's comments. Sorry I'm not of more help.

If you use an agency, they do all the work for you.

I was denied help by agency due to i am still trying to work part time. I plan on getting a lawyer once i have to appeal, thanks for responnding, i need all the help i can get.

My lawyer does all of my paperwork for me and gets my medical records from my doctors. The only thing I had to do was sign for release of my records.

I am not sure who the disability worker you refer too is ? I thought you were talking a attorney or disability specialist but in your reply # 3 was not sure ?

If you have a disability specialist handling things they will take care of all the paperwork but you would sign a consent form for them to do this. Then they would be able to communicate with your doctors on their opinions of your ability to work.

I am not sure if your working part time would affect being able to get full disability ??

rebeccavan if your going to appeal make sure you do it in the time span they gave you at the denial. Or you will lose any back pay you may have coming at the time you win your case.

Back when I was trying to get disability I was also turned down by Allsup because I was still trying to work my Mary Kay business (which I have since given up). They won't take anyone who is working AT ALL because they feel that will be an automatic denial.

Thank you emerald. I'm gonna get my crap together and try and make some progress. I cannot work!!! Hate to admit it, but I suffered tremendously the last 8 years that I did work.
