Im already hearing the I hate the Holidays from everyone.
There are lots of reason s for people to hate the holidays and understandably. But for some of us we simply hate the holiday because of money issues. And before I start, I understand that money really can be a problem for some.but for a lot of us, it is simply a matter of our own expectations!
What's wrong with giving a batch of cookies instead of one of those soap sets from wal-mart that cost $15.00!! (Personally Id rather have the cookies!) Would a card suffice to a co-worker, or MUST we give a store bought gift?
MUST we give our kids EVERYTHING they want?
Where did the set expectations come from? Did we do it to ourselves? Did we do it because thats what everyone else does? To impress? To satisfy? Its not about money! Its about saying Hey, I like you, care about you, youre my friend, love, whatever, Merry Christmas and Good wishes for the New Year.
I think anyone would appreciate those home made cookies over a store bought gift. It shows you took time to make that person special.
So de-stess your holidays. Making it simple sometimes makes is special. P.S. be creative with your wrapping..shows the receiver you put special thoughts to the giving of the gift.
For those of you with kids, please remember that they pick up on your feelings. Your stess and depression could easily ruin their holiday. They do pickup from you! A lot of people have Traditions for Christmas.(something the same every year) my Christmas guarantee was my parents would fight.and it was always because they had been stressed for money.

Helpful hints:
1. get teen packs from Walmart or drug store that contains shampoo, deod, water, gum, shave cream, bar of soap etc. and use them for stocking stuffers. About $5-$7 each but get about 15 things.
2. Get a pinata "filler bag" of candy/toys, split up and fill your stockings.
3. Add things like a mandarine orange, candy cane, pens, pencils, nuts, etc. to your stockings.
4. get free samples from companies such as creams, lotions etc.
I have three grown children who come as a package deal with spouses, and I have one granddaughter. We have also shopped for Jon's brothers and sisters in the past, but this year Jon said enough of that, as they don't even acknowledge the gifts. It's not just that they don't say thank you - they don't mention them at all!
Might be just as well, because years ago when Jon's parents were still living, we gave them a Virginia ham, and they told Jon that they threw it out because when it arrived "it was covered with mold!" Ummm...yeah...that's what happens to good cured ham...duh.
Then there was the incident with the photographs - Jon's mom looked at them and pronounced that they were "too blue." Hmmm...they are outside shots...what color is YOUR sky?
So...seriously...it was better when they didn't mention it LOL But after years of this, he finally declared it a waste of money. They don't like ME, and they apparently don't appreciate even the most carefully chosen gifts, so be it.
the gift can be passed 3x otherwards you can take a gift from someone instead of picking from the pile! you go around in order until all gifts have be choosen! you can pick from the pile or take from someone! again once one gift has been passed the third X that person gets it for good!unless they want to pass it to pile!
