HUGS :)
Is it expensive? I know that I usually go to Vitacost.com and they seem to have the best price for quality supplements. I'll check there but let me know where you have sourced your supply and the cost (if you don't mind),
Thanks!
D-Ribose has been labeled a simple sugar. But really it's ATP. ATP is what our cells use for Energy. When we have an injury, our cells die a miserable death when the ATP drains out of the cells to help the injured area. (I believe this is when we experience the pain). This is all my understanding of the product.
I've learned most of what I know about D-Ribose and ATP from ProHealth and Wikipedia. Here is a link to Prohealth.

I took it in the pill form as I'm such a whoose about things I need to 'taste'. Just don't take it in the afternoon....or you'll be up cleaning all night long and your body will have it's revenge on you the next day!
HUGS :)
We never fall out of our repair cycle. Our bodies exert so much energy to repair itself when we "over do it" that by taking the D-Ribose, we help our bodies restore the ample amount of ATP thus giving us that "energy" back vs using it as 'repair mode'.
The bottles of this stuff say you can take it up to 2 or 3 times per day. But for us, I'd have to disagree with that. Or at least most of us.
I learned quickly to only take it at breakfast time. If I took it anytime around noon....I was screwed for the night and couldn't sleep.
I posted a thread about Ribose a few weeks ago, and I'm happy to see more talk about it. When I took it over a year ago I didn't notice any difference, but I wonder if my dose was too low. I was taking so many supplements at the time that I don't think I ever took enough. I was taking it in powder form, which can be a bit of a pain too, if you're already taking a few other concoctions that are dissolved in water (which I was).
I'm curious.... how do you all figure out what brand to buy? I saw that at least one of you is taking it in pill form. I'll have to double check and see what brand it was that you mentioned.
Thanks all for the info!
Thought I'd update after a week on the d-ribose.....I haven't had this much energy in years! I'm using Jarrow Formula brand, powder....Right now, the dose I find best is 3/4 scoop (1 1/2 grams) in morning, plus another dose around 1 pm or so.....more than that was causing insomnia. Wonderbaby was right....taking it later in the day kept me up at night.
I was able to work all weekend at my daughter's house, without the bone-crushing fatigue. So I'm excited....no cure, but definitely is helping me, anyway!
Thanks to all for the comments! HUGS from down south :)
B vitamins also give you energy and should only be taken in the morning too.
The Ribose is only wearing me out indirectly. I've been taking it at around 10 a.m. and the boost doesn't come until 4 p.m. or later. Until it hits, I sludge through trying to just be a person.
Last night, after dinner, I pulled out a big hunk of meat and made beef jerky. That's slicing the meat, marinating it and then putting it into the dehydrator and knowing what temp to use... This is very important and the kind of thing I'm likely to mess up.
I went to bed and when I got up this morning, the jerky was perfectly jerked. Now I need to make cookies to send to #3 son in the Army. He's at Ft. Drum, New York for now.
I'll probably make the cookies this afternoon and ship everything tomorrow.
I'm really digging this Ribose but I wish it would start working earlier.
