Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
That said, in FM particularly, it's my belief (belief only) that our bodies take 3 times longer to recover than "healthy" people's bodies. Because we're starting from a stressed baseline. (Our baseline, to quote my old beloved rheumy, is like what normal get after a hard workout. So our normal is a regular person's post-workout.) It leaves us in need of more time and rest and recuperation.
That's what I have been told and have figured out after almost 20 years with the FM. Our neuromuscular complex is screwy for whatever reason and we have to accommodate that. Sucks.
On the plus side---and I'm not being beyotchy---bear in mind that you CAN JOG---or walk. 3 1/2 yaers ago I suffered an injury that meant I had to re-learn walkng and will never walk without possibly needing a cane again. So please, just count your blessings along with those frustrations!
And I know it's important for me to not get into too much of a self-pity mindset about this. That things could be much worse, and there are a lot of positives in my life too. I will be grateful that I even can jog.
