I have the same thing. For years, I thought I had interstitial cystitis, which is an inflammation of the lining of the bladder, the diagnosis i got from the urologist several years ago. I took two medications for years. Then, suddenly, I got a notice that I had to see a new urologist, who, after some painful testing, announced that I did NOT have IC at all.
So they took away one of the medications and I doubled the other. It doesn't work as well as the first treatments, but I can stand it, if I drop whatever I'm doing and lie down.
I totally understand the pain you are in. It's horrible. I'd suggest you skip the rheumy and get to the urologist. They can confirm whatever it is that is causing your problem.
As far as I'm concerned, FMS causes pain all over your body, no telling where next. I've had lots of problems in the last few months with my entire belly. My bladder, stomach and intestines all hurt at various times, all the way up to my diaphragm. It's just horrible. Honestly, I don't know how I live with this.
My other advice, if you have not been diagnosed, get to someone and have that diagnosis confirmed. Or not. If it is FMS, there are medications that can help with pain and sleep, it is in NOT, there is certainly something wrong and you need to know what it is.
