Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
Have you had a sleep study done? I did and now I will finally get the results, and maybe some help and some answers--this Friday. If there was one thing I wish I could change about my fibro, it's not the pain, it's the trouble sleeping. I think I could handle the pain better if I could only sleep.
Ideas....hmmm, warm baths, aromatherapy (lavender in particular), warm milk assuming no lactose intolerance. Good sleep hygiene--no caffeine after a certain point, no TV in the bedroom, no looking at screens after a certain point.
Bet you've tried all that, huh? I know I have >,
I can't do any baths because our apt has a stand up shower. But yes as far as everything else goes, I've tried it. We don't even have a tv in the bedroom. And I never have caffeine. Fibro sucks.
Susan
thank you Susan for your reply..... I was recently taken off trazadone. Was on it for a few yrs. It helped at 1st but then not so much (started tossing and turning) and found out it was drying my eyes and mouth out so terribly it became painful. I already have chronic dry eyes and mouth alone but didnt know the trazadone was making it much worse. Anyway, glad they figured out you needed deeper sleep. yeah that IS a problem with FMS folks. Sure wish I had a magic pill for it. Sheesh.....
Take care and God bless...... :)

So happy you are back! Been thinking about you girl!
Hmm, sleep has been an issue here for me too. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Researched the Melatonin vs Valerian Root until I was blue in the face (along with all of the other stuff too).
What I learned is Melatonin helps you to fall asleep.
Valerian root helps you to remain asleep
5HTP helps you relax enough to fall asleep.
Warm milk is gross!
What I settled upon was Benadryl. It was in every OTC sleep aid you can get at the store (in it's generic form) so why pay for some other junk, right? Or why take extra tylenol or ibuprofen if I didn't need it at that moment?
So I took it...for close to 4yrs on and off a little. I'd start out at 25mg (1/2 dose) and once my body built up a tolerance I'd take another 25mg for the full adult dose. (I'm a cheap drunk).
Needless to say I noticed my memory was starting to slip, but I just chucked that up to me being tired all the time. Then I read up on Benadryl. It can cause memory loss with long term use.
Now I'm taking nothing and what happens? I'm starting to sleep better w/out it. Go figure!
But one place I like to do some reading at is at ProHealth. I go to their website and enter in my problem and see what others have been doing. It's usually a good start for me. Keep in mind, prohealth.com is an online fibro store. Take it for what it's worth, good or bad. I just like to read their stuff.
And the only other thing that works.....wearing myself out, cleaning cooking, whatevering...but I don't get that luxury every day. So my quick to fall asleep remedy...reading. Works every time. Or watch some low grade cable craft show....snoozers!
I'm sorry you are struggling so bad with this. Playing zombie sucks! I'll keep you in my prayers hun and I'm so happy to see you!
Hugs!
If i run out of my med or dont use the cpap sleepless comes flodding back and overwhelms me.
Gkneez, glad you got a sleep study done and it revealed what your body is going through.
So glad to see you back! I've been out a long while too, but also am back!
Sorry about the no sleep.....I can't sleep without my muscle relaxers. Otherwise, I am wide awake.....Wish I could help you more.
HUGS, girl, from down south :)
It took me a few years of trying different meds to find the right combo. I think everyone is different in what works for them.
I still have periods that I can't sleep even with my meds. If I am anxious about anything, forget it, I won't sleep and I'll be a zombie and all plans have to be cancelled.
Didn't you recently get married? How's that going?
Yeah my sleep study didn't help me either. Didn't tell me any new information I didn't already know. sure wish it did.
Take care God bless!
