First off, the weight issue? Sorry, that's stress on your whole body. I kow, I know, shut up and prove it. But it's just medical fact, da*n it.
Buy a pedometer. I worked a few months in boutique clothing retail for women, and we all clocked about six miles a day on an eight-hour shift when we did th Pedometer Experiment. So check your actual time *walking and moving* versus "standing still". THat sounds weird, but standing is the same as sitting as far as your metabolism is concerned. So you can get a good idea of how many miles you walk in a day at work, which also shuts up annoying relativse and friends. Also, helps you talk to your doc about your physical activity on a daily level.
I lose weight by calorie control. I'm not a calorie counter, that's insanity waiting to happen for a nerd like me, but I threw out my scale and said, "OK, this bowl is how much I eat for supper. I fill this with whatever it is, then that's that for supper." (It's a bowl that came with the set of dishes we bought 20 years ago.) Breakfast is the same bowl, usually oatmeal and wheat bran combined. Lunch is a single handful of trail mix (homemade). All I drink is low to no-cal. And when hungry, I drink a glass of water, and wait 20-30 minutes. If I'm still hungry, I'll nibble a few walnuts or almonds (you may prefer dried fruit, whatever). Slow going, but the body prefers a sow weight loss. The faster you lose weight, the more likely you are to have it return, as a general rule for most people.
All that aedvice given? Eh, what do I know? Just sharing what's working, more or less, for me.
Smiles and healing to you,
Leo
I fell apart and gained back all my weight. I truly think because you're on your feet all day and moving around, you're getting exercise. I think if you lowered your carb intake and portions, like Leo suggested, you'd see the weight come off. (And I would too, if I'd follow that advice!). I've always noticed that cutting out sugar, bread, rice, potatoes, etc., helps me lose weight. It's just a matter of doing it and getting my head in the game.
I also understand about your husband's comments. Mine says similar things. I just ignore a lot of it, because I know he doesn't understand what I'm going through.
It's good to see you here, although I'm sorry you're suffering with this. I hope to get to know you better.
My hubby has been pretty decent, so I don't really have much advise with that. His biggest issue is that when we go somewhere, he doesn't understand that I cannot stay there all night.
I will look into getting that book LeoX3, and thank you for the advice.
Fibrolizzy..thank you for your reply and advice... ROLL TIDE!! hehehe I am a die hard Bama fan but still love my fellow tigers. :) What part of Alabama are you from? I hope to get to know you better as well.
basketballmom, thank you as well for the advice.
I do know what I need to do to loose the weight it is just getting into THAT mind set and just pushing through the pain. I am not on any meds for the fibro, maybe I need to look into some? What do you all take? As far as eating, I am not a big eater at all. Matter of fact that is probably one of the things that I have going against me. I dont eat breakfast or lunch at work then just eat supper at home. ( I have a really bad stomach and being alone at work in the day time makes it hard to run to the bathroom) I know TMI Im sorry.. SO with that being said, I am just all kinds of screwed up lol
thanks again yall!!
