Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I've been in PTSD therapy a couple years now, and the relaxation breathing I elarned for my PTSD is very body-friendly, meant to alleviate body stress as well as mental, so that's the most recent tool I've put in the toolbox.
Otherwise, trial, error, ice, heat, the usual rigamarole. Sorry, Military, I know, lame! I think I wore out my copy of "Fibro for Dummies" (need a new one anyway) going through for ideas and so on.
Sounds loopy, but my hubby swears by doing a three-day juice "cleanse" (a la "Fat Sick Nearly Dead" sort of thing) once a month. I myself threw up when drinking juice made with kale (OMG), but it's another thing to try. Failed for me, but if you don't have GI issues, worth asking the doc about and trying, maybe?
Healing hopes to you!
The key to keeping my pain down at least for me is PACING myself. If I overdo it then the pain will flare up and will be hard to get it back down.
Pleasant activities. Doing something you enjoy on a regular basis can help you feel better mentally and sometimes physically. Play an instrument, work on a puzzle, arts and crafts, watch funny movies, do some journaling, whatever you can think of that won't strain you physically.
Also regular exercise. Even if it's just 5 mins of walking, exercising in a
chair, or moving around in the pool, it helps. As long as it's gentle and slow moving.
Heating pads work great for me, I'll sleep with them on and they'll shut off automatically. You can try gentle massages, too. I like deep tissue massages, especially in those knotted areas.
Good luck to you, hope you find something that helps you.
