First want to say Hi All!!!! Been a while since I have been on here.
I have found a wonderful doc that actually has Fibro. Yea!!!! My first appointment was finding out what I was on and what was working and what was not. She ran all sorts of tests, sent me to an orthopedic doc,(I have hip and knee problems), sent me to a cardiologist because my cholesterol was high. She really made sure that I didn\'t have anything else going on with the Fibro.
She has no problem listening to me and asking if I had done anything before to help, when I make a suggestion she listens and says whether it is a correct treatment for Fibro or not. So now I am on Gabapentin, Vicodin, Flexaril, Levothyroxine, Prozac, and now B-12 shots since I can\'t absorb the tablets. I am also working out three days a week. UGH! Exercising is really hard but I have been doing it for the last three months and I have notice a big difference, not for the the Fibro pain but in my stamina. I can walk farther and even up hill without feeling like I was going to die. I go to a fitness class in a hospital that is run by a Physical Therepist. He is wonderful. He watches all of us to make sure we are not hurting ourselves. Like with my knees he know how bad they are and has altered some of the exercises for just me to accommodate me.
I also had a Hysterectomy in December, December 30th in fact lol, spent the New Years in the hospital, and she is helping me with the menopausal things from that too. She is also an advocate for me to my Insurance company to get some of the things she wants me to take and use to be covered so that they don\'t cost me an arm and a leg, but in the mean time she makes sure she has plenty of samples to send me home with. I would suggest that anyone that is taking something that is expensive talk to the doc and ask for samples, or even get on the list with the drug company to get your meds for free.
She has put me on something new called Savella or I will be on it as soon as I work my way off the prozac. Has anyone heard of this, or is taking it. What side effects are there and how bad. I am finally getting everything on an even keel, and don\'t want to upset things by taking something that may or may not help.

You have had alot go on since we have last chatted...I do hope ya got everything under control...Lousy way to spens a NYE !! but I guess iffin ya were Needing it then chances are good you were None to Comfortable anyway !! so On to the New year huh ??

I too had a hyst, mine was in 2000 though. Sorry you had to spend New Year Eve in the hospital, out of it. Mine was in mid of Dec. so I was messed up for the holiday seasons too, funny though, it was the best one I have ever had. lol Didn\'t have to go any were, and didn\'t have to deal with any family BS, every one came to me, and was oh so caring. lol Sad though I have to be healing from surgery to get treated nice.
Wishing you well, and that you get through this tapering off Prozac quickly. Really must be sending you though the passes though, weaning off Prozac, and dealing with hormonal ups and downs at the same time.

What good luck you had finding a doc with FM! Sounds like you are on all the right drugs. Savella is the newest treatment just approved by FDA. Not too many on it yet, but if you search you can probably find some posts about it.
