I went in to see my Dr yesterday. She had told me previous to this appt that she didn't think the 100mg of Lyrica I was taking was helping...and to discontinue it,but watch and make sure that it was NOT helping because sometimes drugs had been working when you think they didn't (guess that means they work a little and are you willing to put up w the side effects for a little relief?).
So we've also tried Cybalta,which I CANNOT tolerate...I am not able to tolerate MOST drugs. This is leaving me with a sense of helplessness...
She asked me that since I've lost my job that maybe we can 'play with meds and see what might help.' but didn't give me the full pic on this. I also reminded her that even tho my husband still has insurance,our financial situation was now DOUBLE CRUNCH!
So she asked if I'd taken any narcotics in the past and listed a few things. My aunt was with me and didn't agree that harsh narcotics were the way to go...so then she says she wants me to take ten mg of Prednisone in the mornings for six weeks.
I'm torn because I have a fam history of FMS and Arthritis and they are frowning on the prednisone due to the thinning of the skin,bone,weight gain and the reaction your body has coming off the medicine. They are telling me that once you start taking it,you'll need bigger doses before long because the smaller ones won't be good enough.
My Drs plan is to see where i'm at in six wks and either up my anti inflammatory or keep me on prednisone indef. At this point I feel STUCK!
This morning after stopping the Lyrica I feel sick. The Dr said not to worry,just to stop it and that it would be just fine. I'm not sure if I feel 'fine'. I'm not really sure of anything anymore and I'm feeling pretty BLUE.

I cannot believe your doc told you to just stop the lyrica, I though you were supposed to taper off that, but what do I know. Best of luck to you darlin!
Also, maybe you should go back by yourself and discuss your meds with just your doctor. People have such preconceived notions about meds, especially narcotics. There are a great many people who are helped by taking them for pain.
I personally take a low dose hydrocodone, after they took darvocet off the market. Both of those have helped me to function during my day pretty normally by taking the edge off the pain.
Most of my family members don't know what I'm taking, because it's none of their business, plus they don't understand my condition or how the meds help me.
