I am so sorry your having such a rough time with it all. I totally know what you saying. I too have been where you are, and I know for me it such a awful place to be in.
I all so know what its like when the people in your life, just doesn't seem to get how bad this can be, and we are left feeling like they just don't understand. I think they get frustrated that they can't help us, and they don't have any answers. I know for me, all I really want from my loved one, is for them to say, they are sorry I am in such pain, and to tell me to just take care of my self, or even just ask if there is any thing they can do. There isn't but it would be nice to hear them just ask. But I know its not that they don't care its just..... ok I am not sure what it is.
I have gotten some great advise from this site, and I think one of the best things I was told, was just to hold on, and take it just one day at a time. Maybe tomorrow things will be a bit better, or maybe the next day. But to just hold on.
I wish I could do more for you, but just know your not alone, and we understand how bad this can feel.
Sending you some caring, gentle thoughts.
Gentle hugs to you,
sherrall
Speaking of work, I really don't know what to do about that. working is only making it worse. I have no degree and am paycheck to paycheck- I don't know how I could live if I stopped working. I sit here thinking about going to work tomorrow and I just can't imagine doing it. I'm so uncomfortable and achy and pained.
What helps with this?
Just wanted to check in and let you know that this group has a lot of wonderful caring people who know about and have been down the road you're on. I hope you get some help from the pain management appt..
I went through two years if horrible pain, not knowing what it was, no doctors knowing or even seeming to care. Finally I made it to a wonderful and caring rheumatologist who diagnosed me with RA, along with the fibro. I'm telling you this, because I believe help is around the corner. I think going to a pain management doctor is an excellent idea. They are in the business of helping people manage their pain.
I encourage you to hold on to a silver thread if hope and look forward to that appointment. That's what I did for those two years. It was all a journey that eventually led to my getting help. God is on your side, and so are we!
I am so sorry you have been diagnosed. I hear your pain and have felt it. Being told you have a chronic illness is completely overwhelming and this is a good place for support.
I remember the day I was dx'd 4 years ago I called my best friend at work and was just bawling. My other friend came over to comfort me and had to stay with me. I've come a long way from then. Do not give up hope, it DOES get better. Take it one small step at a time. Try not to think of extremes, I know it's hard when your body feels like it is screaming out in pain. You can get better, get control of your pain and what comes along with fibro, you can and will. Don't let anyone tell you how to feel or what to feel....just allow yourself to grieve this part of finding out.
Each of us has had to experiment with different meds, therapies, resources. Build yourself a good support network even if it's only a few close friends on here or in person. Some times there are meetup groups for fibromyalgia. I laughed and cried many a time with a meetup coordinator I met here in my town. People do not understand this disease/syndrome yet and it's even harder when family or friends don't get the daily struggle. Some day that will change but know that you have a safe place to vent here. Find a good doctor that knows fibromyalgia....a specialist that will LISTEN to everything. Find a pain management doctor if your primary doctor won't treat your pain. Personally I am on a combination of different pain management treatments and I am now at a constant level 4 pain, amazing from a constant 8. I use cymbalta, hydrocodone for pain flares, aleve, and recently for my costochondritis/arthritis am on sulfasalazine. At first, I went on gabapentin 3 x day and it was the only thing that managed the "burning" nerve pain I had from my spondyliosis in my neck. Lyrica or gabapentin are two similar therapies to help with it. I also went to aqua therapy which was my life saver and got me mobile again after 2 back to back car accidents. Hot and cold ice packs, biofreeze, epsom salt baths...these are just a few complementary, alternative therapies that help you through the pain. Also, what you eat, in my opinion is critical.
Take one thing at a time. Make a goal to do one thing each week...find a doctor, or read on here, you will be okay. Good luck to and my blessings and prayers go out to you. BIG gentle hugs, JP
