I'm 22 years old, I have been in a committed long term relationship with my boyfriend for a little over 5 years and we have NEVER had penetrational sex. He is the first (and only) man I have ever been intimate with. We have been intimate since shortly after establishing our relationship but have never had full vaginal penetrational sex. Last year I was (finally) given a diagnosis of vulvodynia, a form of dyspareunia. My previous GYN doctor had completely blown me off and told me "have you heard of foreplay?" and "do you use external lubrication?" Yes I have heard of F****** foreplay that's the only sex I have ever had! Oh and yes I have orgasms, multiple. When I was a teenager, it was driven into my head to reserve sex until after marriage. I have to say now that that wisdom may have screwed me over. In the first 2 years of my boyfriend and I's relationship we were extremely, let's put it honestly, horny. But I still had that thought in the back of my head of "you have to wait until after marriage to have 'real sex'". Therefore, the foreplay and oral sex thrived but I refused penetrational sex. Finally I realized WTF am I thinking and my boyfriend and I attempted vaginal penetrational sex. I had heard all about how it's going to be painful and you will bleed and all of that but to me the pain was unbearable with him barely entering me an inch (if that). Keep in mind I can tolerate fingers just fine and even the vaginal GYN speculum is tolerable (to an extent). Each time I was feeling up to trying (because honestly it would kill the mood so I wasn't always up for trying) we had no luck. We tried lube and condoms (different types of each one, including latex free). Nothing. I experience a severe, burning, itching feeling with penetration of an inch (if that) and the pain is WORSE in the process of the penis being removed! Also with ANY movement when his penis is (somewhat) inside me, I'm in agony. My current GYN finally found there is a VERY specific spot, barely on the inside and bottom of my vagina, that is the culprit. When she found the spot with a q-tip I was in tears (both because the pain was awful and we had finally made some progress on my condition). She recommended inserting a numbing cream (it's actually a cream for hemmoroids) into my vagina before penetation. For a year my boyfriend and I have been trying this with no luck. It is definitly now both a physical problem and an emotional one. Luckily my boyfriend is VERY patient and considerate but honestly, will a blow job always be good enough? Plus, if I decide to have kids, how is that going to happen? I have my yearly exam with my GYN coming up, and I have to embarrassingly explain to her that a year later, I haven't made any progress. I really would just love to have someone to talk to about this that may be suffering the same way...
