I suffer with IBS and have been going through a real bad flare-up, loads of Heartburn. Dr thought it might be Gastritis or Gallbladder problems. Ultrasound scan yesterday showed everything clear aside from the fact I have a Fatty Liver : (

Any good remedies out there? Can this be reversed. I do not go to my Dr until next Friday.

I found out yesterday from CT Scan that I have an enlarged liver.

How can they tell just from the Ultrasound that it is fatty liver? Don't they need a biopsy for that?

I had really bad heartburn for a long time. then found out it was because of Gerd and I also had a 2 cm sized gallstone and had my gallbladder removed. hope they find out why soon. If its a gallstone you will start getting nauseous and throw up when it gets really bad. plus the pain goes from your abdomen to your back.

Don't know how they know but Ultrasound showed I have a FL.

I only had pain on my right side under ribs. No nausea or vomiting. I have this terrible itchy skin and I guess it could be related to the FL or gallbladder sludge they found.

I also had a 24-Hr BP monitor and GP was happy with the results on that. So I have had a good MOT. : )

Hi. While a biopsy can confirm FLD, when liver enzymes aren't elevated much, it's usually not necessary. That is assuming the provider already looked into a hepatitis panel and it was negative. The ultrasound will show diffuse steatosis or streaks of fat. The key to FLD is to prevent it turning into a bad inflammation that can lead to scarring or cirrhosis. Then its called NASH and can lead to permanent liver damage. The biggest way to prevent NASH is slow weight loss (no more than 1-2 # a week) and increase exercise. Keeping your cholesterol within normal limits, and eating healthy. Best of wishes!

Hi shadow dance. I just wanted to let you know it's individually different for everybody. some people cant do dairy at all. some cant do wheat. it depends also if you have a food allergy.. I'm lactose intolerant and can eat cheese ok but not milk, cream cheese, or ice cream .

I too have FLD......and my cholestrol was normal this time...my liver enzymes were a little elevated...but I want a biopsy to be sure that it is not cirrhosis.....that is what I worry about.....any info would be helpful.....can they see cirrhosis on the ultrasound.....I have tons of other health issues too....
