Two weeks ago, my parents left with my son on vacation when I told them he could not go. Then, when they came back a few days later, I went to their house to pick him up. My mother told Jonathan to take all of his clothes off because she bought them. Then when I tried to call the police, my step-dad ripped my cell phone from my hand and broke one of my fingers when he did it. He started shoving me and grabbing me, all while Jonathan was standing right there. The police had to come and get my son for me after my mother locked herself in the bedroom with him. They kept saying that because I'm poor, I can't have him. They kept calling me a "live-in babysitter" and said they already talked to a lawyer about getting custody.

Since that day, my step-dad has been sending me emails saying that I couldn't have any of my stuff unless I took Jonathan to their house. Why on God's green Earth would I EVER take him back over there?? So, I got a police escort so I could get my things, and I found that they had gone through everything and packed it for me. Sounds nice, right? Well, they took my court documents, bankruptcy papers, Jonathan's and my birth certificate, our social security cards, ODJFS papers, the copy of my lease to my house, and even my scrapbook from when he was a baby. I can't replce that scrapbook- it has his first lock of hair, the crib card from the hospital, cards we got when he was born, and NONE of the pics in the scrapbook were digital because I didn't have a digital camera when he was a baby. They also took my video camera and all the tapes to it of when he was a baby, his first steps- everything from birth to 6 years old.

I'm so upset and I don't know what to do. The prosecutor is supposed to call me back, and I'm getting anxious while I wait =(

What can I do about this? My mother is very controlling and I think a lot of this is because she still sees me as 8 years old, not 28. I don't drink or do drugs, and I take very good care of my son. I don't know what to do.
