I have 2 daughters (30 & 32) a son (42), daughter-in-law, estrnged husband, mother (98) and two grandchildren.
My family is the most important thing in my life. I made it thru my husband of 33 yrs leaving me four years ago with the help of this group. We're in an ok place and I my life is actually better without him.
My son is very low key and never comes to see me (we only ive about a mile away) and i kow how busy he is,but he never even calls me.
My two daughters, my 98 yr old mother and my 2 year old grandaughters all live in my house. My daughters hate each other and it's all I can do to try and keep the peace. Things have been escalting between them over the past several months. My daughter-in-law has caused problems for my younger daughter (too a long a story here) I don't want to overdo this background info, so I'll get to the matter at hand.
Last week all the turmoil and conflict sent me over the edge. I wanted to get away from all of them. I remember Whitney Houston died from Xanax and alcohol. So I gave it a try. All I did was make matters worse. I freaked out, screaming and breaking things. From what i was told the paramdedics carried me downstairs to the ambulance by grabbing on to my hands and feet and then restrained me in the gurney and injected me with a sedative. I'm just a tiny person 4' 11", 80 lbs. I was kept it the hospital overnight. When the doctor came all he did was give me a couple of pages of informtion, had me sign a paper and sent me home.
When I got home, my youngest daughter said everyone had been there waiting for me to get home, but it was late in the evening when I was released so, they left. I found out that my older daughter and daughter-in-law had gotten into a hughe argument which almost got physical and that my estranged husband had to break it up. I found out that my daughter and grandaughter left and went to stay with him in a one bedroom apartment.
No one has called or come see me since the incident. My daughter in law called and left a message to see how i was and by the way did she leave her cell phone at the house. Which was probably the real reason for her call. My son hasn't called. My daughter that left hasn't called and I'm sure she blames me for all her problems. My youngest daughter suffers from depression and her own problems. She's one one of reasons i went over the edge. She lies in bed all day, no job, no friends, no going out except for an occasional dr appointment. I can't seem to find a way to help her outof this funk. She'll be 30 yrs old next week and is wasting her life away. She's about the closest thing I have to a best friend, but with all her problems, my talking to her about mine would only make her worse, so I always try not to burden her with my feelings.
Now all my family hates each other and I'm sure they hate me too and I don't know how to fix it. I feel immobolized. I don't want to see or talk to any of them because i'm ashamed of what I did and in a way i'm glad they're all staying away although what i would really like is a big hug from each of them, telling me everything is going to be alright--but i know that's not going to happen.
Now I dread opening my eyes every morning and facing another day. I have to do my housework, I have to mow the grass, I have to fix lunch for mom and give her her meds, i have to cook dinner for her and my daughter and i have to go to work to pay my bills and a lot of my two daughters' bills. So i have to really push myself. And work is hard, I work from home, but it's a call-center environment and I have to sound happy and eager to help our callers - it's tough when you're down in the dumps with a a broken heart. I take a small dose of xanax to get thru the job day - my daughter has the pill bottle and won't let me have more. The meds are actually my mom's but she never uses them, so i just help myself to them to get thru the day.
I don't know how to fix things, I don't want to see or talk to anyone, I'm immobolized and yet i have to go thru the montions of being normal.
I should probably see a mental health person, but it's so long and complicated and i don't want to talk to a stranger. This forum is helpful because it's anonymous and maybe someone out there might have a good suggestion to help me.

Sorry you are going through such a rough time. Sounds like you are the glue that keeps everyone going. With everyone depending on you, it sounds like you snapped under the pressure. Please realize your family's issues aren't your fault. Also, I would suggest seeing your Dr. and explain your situation. Perhaps they can prescribe you a long term antidepressant instead of something so quick acting like xanax. It may level out your ups and downs allowing you to function better. Of course, I'd recommend therapy as well but I know that often has a stigma attached to it that's hard to overcome. If you can overcome it, it may be the thing that helps you the most. They can show you coping strategies to help you get through this. Wishing you the very best.

I urge you to go to a mental health emergency intake. They will set you up with a place and Councillor. You need to to get better.Cymbalta is good for depression. Not for mom,not for your adult children, for YOU.You and I have a lot in common. My daughter who lives with me is there for me as is yours. My oldest I help and she leaves me hanging like your did you.Your daughter is with her Dad and is ok thats good.Your son is doing right.Give him a call every once in a while to see how he and his family is doing. It sounds like you did a good job with him and he is doing what he needs to do.You and your other daughter could go to counseling together.Let her since she is not working take care of mom for a day every week or 2 and go out for the day even if its going to a local coffee shop or ceramic class.A park for lunch anything.Get involved with a church and church group. It will do you wonders.Let the family come around when they decide their ready .You are not responsible for the whole family. It is to much for you or anyone.Three woman in one house is like a ticking time bomb. When your daughter gets mad at dad and wants to leave.Tell her you will help her look for an apartment for her and the baby. She is an adult and needs a home of her own and to be head of her household now.She might hate you now but it is best.
