My husband and I have been married 35 years. He has seen my family go through divorces, marriages, births, deaths affairs, and any other number of situations. Currently the issue I have to deal with is getting very testy. My niece has been married 17 years, has 5 children, and constantly broke, no work, screwing around with others and leaving the kids to fare for them selves. Kids are 17,16,15,12, and oldest is moved out. Nephew does not work regular jobs and they have not pm house payment in 2 years. They have so much garbage health department has started fining them. My niece does not clean house and never has. Just a little history. Nephew started having affair 3 years ago. Says he has stopped but continues to see her. Niece has meant a guy on line that she spends 2-3 nights a week. I do not agree with any of it and just as soon as not talk about it. Every time nephew shows up my husband starts bad mouthing my niece saying she should be home and be a wife. I get livid and say she has 2 1/2 years to catch up with doug. I just get so tired of the double standards. Neither one is right but I can't just set by and hear my niece get put down while hubby gets no crap. Needed a sounding board and best suggestion I can come up with is just leave when he comes to visit or try and make contract with hubby not to talk about it. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

You can make an anonymous call and tell CPS the condition of the home and the emotional abuse that's going on in the home
It must be really scary for them....xo
I agree with SunCloud's suggestion.
There were literally paths that were carved out of the hoard so you could tunnel your way from one part of the house to the next.
The smell and the insects were horrible.
But to them, it was normal.
It's not right, and eventually they were taken out of the home and my dad went to prison for other things, my stepmom divorced him and.... that's all OT.
I remember having my sister - half-sister in that we had the same dad but different mom's - over to stay with us for awhile. She didn't know where to put things. Food and trash and her dirty clothes, etc. So she would hide things. I never caught her doing it, she was very clever.
After her visit, I kept finding things she had hidden all over our home. Rotted fruit and old food and trash and dirty clothes... tucked and hidden into little places, and covered up even, like buried in stuffed animals and under rugs and pillows, etc.
squeaker I would definitely call someone - child protective services or whoever deals with these situations in your area. No child should live in that sort of environment. The cheating and infidelity stuff, that's between the couple. It's nobody's business but their own. At those ages the kids know what's going on, but they are also old enough to be home alone (usually, depends on the kids of course). But the home health situation, living in filth, someone needs to intervene.
I'd recommend calling CPS on both those parents! SunCloud is right. Based on what you've posted both parents should be investigated for child neglect.
