Silver- if you don't live with your mother and your father is away with his GF, then who are you with right now???
I'd tell EVERYTHING you said to your guidance counselor. They can help you, but realize that they may do an investigation and you won't be able to control the outcome...
Why do you live with him and not your mother???
Silver, do what you think is best for yourself. When you are 18, it is between you and each parent. The courts have nothing to do with it.
very best,

Deli - I have talked a little bit to them, but they haven't been much help.
EJ - Thank you for the advice. I have about 5 years to go before I go to college.
Thanks so much guys for talking!
In PA, I was told that 14 is the age where they *consider* the child's input, but it's not like whatever the child wants, the child gets... There has to be considerable evidence to support an overturn. And that also means that the one parent would have to go to court to change the existing agreement.
Silver- why were you not with your mom to begin with? Usually, they'd put a daughter with a mom, not to generalize... Any way to use this time with your mother to tell her how you feel? How you want to live with her??? (Why are they on two different sides of the country? That must be really difficult.)
Ah... guidance counselors. Don't get me started. BUT, here's a tip for you. By LAW, if you say that you are having thoughts of suicide, they HAVE to get you into therapy. So... if you pull that card and it gets you to a professional who CAN help you situation, then I say do that. School counselors are more worried about covering their own butts about getting you to the next grade. Sad, but true. But to get REAL help, you need a REAL therapist. I'd tell them you want to use your "Yellow Ribbon" card. Even if you say it. They'll know what that means. Watch the results. Even if you admit a day later that you said that just because you were desperate to get help and you weren't getting any before. Ya gotta look out for number one. Once you get into therapy, tell him/her what you told us on your OP. I bet you'll get more help that way.
Hugs.
My daughter is with me for half the time (split from her dad when she was 1) and you know how many times I had a babysitter for her???
Zero.
