Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.
I remember one time when I came back from a short type of school for one year, I though that most people who knew me would be happy to see me back home again, most people didn't seem that excited about it, and even the priest whom I used to visit a lot as a child because they needed someone to play with a girl they babysitted responded in a more annoying and sour way towards me. It wasn't a very pleasent "Come Back", also what I noticed is that most of the people who knew me or my family, same as some teachers would ask more for either my older or younger sister, I wasn't the one they wanted to see the most.
Most of all; I never feel as I belong in this place. I do love the landscape, and perhaps some buildings, but I don't love being in this place, I don't fit in with the people, and I have always been very different from how my biological family is... It isn't a place where I long back to, I wouldn't consider it a place where I would like to live.
I sure could do fine with visiting there, but just as a visit. I can understand you have much mixed emotions about this, I think this makes a lot of sense when one goes back to places where you have bad memories. But I am sure it helps having your husband's support and having him by your side when going back to your hometown, I wouldn't like to be going back there without my husband joining me. I even don't like being with my parents alone too much when they visit us, I always feel better when my husband is together with me. But I can understand that it still saddens you.
But back to the main point; Whilst living at this school that was also located very far away from my parents home, I only visited them for 1 whole week of vacation that would be a bit spread around in a year. Once I was back at the school I never missed my family, I loved living on my own and away from them. I simply loved my freedom! And I still feel this same way now.
So I can understand that you enjoy being away from there, there is a certain freedom with this, isn't it? :-) I think it is more up to you if you want to move back there or not, I don't think you should worry about this so much. Just remember that you don't have to move back there, it is more important to be living in a place where you feel happy and where you feel the most comfortable living.
