Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.
I've known my mil for years, we got along fine until my husband and I got married. It gradually got worse. We don't live by her and my husband isn't one to call very often. I hate it, when we went to visit her she wouldn't even speak to me, she'd ask my husband questions about the kids then he'd would ask me because he didn't know. During Christmas she told my husband I am a b*tch, because she found out our kids were with my mom. When she came to visit she was nicer, but only because my husband told her that he wouldn't put up with it. I know part of the issue is because I wont allow my kids to be at her house, 800 miles away, because her husband is a register sex offender, he says he didn't do it, but pleaded guilty. While I understand that happens, I just am not sure and I can't risk my kids well being to please her. How would anyone else handle the situation? My husband understands how I feel, but doesn't understand why I can't trust her to keep our kids safe while her husband is there.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I was an advocate for wrongful conviction several years ago and I absolutely know that this can happen far too often however where children are concerned their well being has to come first and foremost... They have no power or control so the adults in their lives have to watch their backs
I'm glad that your husband has taken a stand
I feel badly if your father in law has been wrongfully convicted.... It's a terrible thing
I think you have to listen to your gut though and take care of your kids.....
I know that your MIL wants to yell that this isn't fair but it's what you all have to work with unfortunately
Big hug.....xo
My gut feeling is that these are my kids and it's the one area where I can't say " Oh maybe he pleaded guilty for a lesser sentence" Usually I am the one who questions convictions often due to how crazy the legal system can be. It's hard when children are involved. Maybe when they are older and can tell me exactly what happens and understand what's appropriate and what's not. Just at this time, they aren't at that age. thank you all for the support, it makes me feel better that I am not over analyzing the situation or being overly protective of my kids.
