Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.
So, my fiance, our baby, and I have been living with his family for a little over a month. The household includes the three of us, plus my fiance's grandparents and his mother. His family loves me and treats me like an actual member of the family. I love his grandparents, as they're lovely people. I have very mixed feelings about his mother, but we're nice to each other and typically get along.
The issue that I'm having is that they're getting waaaaay too comfortable around me. I'm not a prude, but their is such a thing as modesty and common decency. His grandparents have a tendency to wander around in their underwear, even at times of day when they know other people are home and not in bed. I get that it's their home, and that we're guests here, but I am very uncomfortable with this. You don't do that when you have company.
This being overly comfortable and walking around almost naked resulted in me having the unfortunate experience of seeing my fiance's 90 year old grandfather's junk. I walked upstairs at 11 am to fix myself some breakfast. He was in the kitchen putting something away wearing nothing but his boxers. I turned around to walk away, but the dog got in my way. I didn't want him to realize I had seen him in his underwear, so I bent over to pet the dog. But then he started to head my way to get out of the kitchen, and I looked up when I tried to get up to get out of his way, only to see that the gap in the front of his boxers was wide open and his wiener was sticking out. I don't think he noticed it, but I sure did. Then, to make things more awkward for me, when I opened the cupboard door to get a plate, their was a huge bottle of Viagra sitting at the front of the shelf (admittedly I do find that kind of funny in lieu of what had just happened).
How do I deal with this? I'm already incredibly unhappy about living with them, but I'm stuck here for the time being. I really don't appreciate having to see things that are simply just not meant for my eyes. I am not that comfortable with them, but at the same time I don't think it would be appropriate to tell them to put some damn clothes on.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

They're comfortable in their underwear in 'their' home and that's really what it comes down to.... I hear you though..... Vent, vent, vent when you need to here...... xo
Oh well. I have one more mental scar to add to my collection. And perhaps a funny story for some other day. I'm sure I'll find it funny eventually.
