last weekend my girlfriend brought of breaking up but still live with her in sake of being with my baby son 24/7. she stated we can have remain friends and even date other people in the future and not bringing them "home". i am uncomfortable with this. is this a good idea? is this a way for her to control whom i see and do?

I don't know your history with her. Maybe she just wants to co-parent and save money?

You are both adults. You can make your own rules.

But if you are uncomfortable with this, then you shouldn't do it.

Terrondt, you've been going through some tough issues with her for a long time. And yes, it's a way to control the financial aspect of the relationship. Obviously she likes the financial stability you offer but doesn't want you in a personal relationship any longer. So, by going along with it you are there for household chores; babysitting, financial support AND she gets to date whomever, whenever....

Time to make the break!

Hi terrondt: I'm on the breakups and divorce board. I haven't seen this situation work out well there. It's a way to be separated (broken up) but too many times ends up with one party acting childish and pulling mean tricks, acting nasty, doing things you don't want them to do, and to be honest, exactly how much freedom would you have dating other women?

Yes, it is a way for her to control your life, everyone you see, and when you go to work, for her to go through your room and your belongings. If you want to breakup, don't live with her because you will regret it and be really miserable.

She doesn't want to be independent and wants to hold onto you. You have to force her to go out on her own and get her own place.
