Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. HI EVERYONE, I kinda left DS for a bit my life was good. I tried to ignore my family issues but recently these came back up. My family is so messed up and dysfunctional. They blame me for having a LIFE!
Not sure if anyone remembers me from last time but I have so many issues with my MOM and SISTERS. I have two brothers and a dad they usually keep to their self.
My mom says she feels like a "burden" to me because I don't ever come visit her and I see my mother in law more than her. I don't go visit my mom because all she does is complain about my siblings and their children that she has to "raise" them yada yada. I get sick of hearing it I get that she has to watch them but OMG enough is enough. I know she talks about me behind my back I have been called a SNOB and PRINCESS.
When I was 17 I got pregnant with my daughter, I had her 2 weeks before I turned 18 the day I turned 18 I moved into my boyfriends home who I did marry and love so much. I honestly believe that she saved me I feel like if I would stay with my mom I would get sucked into the whole she was living in. I was emotionally and physically abused as a kid my mom would grab my face anytime I made her mad it was her way or the highway. WELL I picked the highway. Living with my future in laws I got to see how a real family functions. They stick together, help each other I wanted that so bad with my family and it just didn't happen. My childhood we were very poor social workers came to the house we were not allowed to tell them that they would grab our faces and spank us ( I am not saying just a love tap full on pull your pants down lay on my lap and they just wailed we couldn't sit down.) pretty awful. I remember one time my mom kicked us all out of the house in the dark in the cold and it was for drinking a POP of hers she smoked and drank pop but couldn't afford food MAKES PERFECT sense huh!.
My grandma would take me to live with her and that would last 4-5 months then my mom would make her give me back. Waking up dreading the day is awful.
I now have 3 children happily married went to college own my own home my own car I provide for my children we are financially stable. I think my mom is jealous of my life because we didn't suffer the hardships they did I knew that I needed to get a good job and my husband as well and we did. Why should I hold myself back because my moms feelings might get hurt. My sisters think I should bow down to my mom and kiss her feet because she gave birth to me...my mother in law is more of a mother than my own mother is. She only calls when she wants something to to complain about siblings. It's hard to just say well I am not talking to you anymore I am done with you. You cannot just cut them off and feel good about it. My 2 older kids 10 and 11 do not want to even go to their house. My 2 year old of course doesn't know her grandparents and I don't want her to.
Just this past weekend my mother and sister did not believe me that I had to work on mother's day ( I am a social worker we don't take days off honestly our work continues) Usually for the most part I work Mon-Fri 8:30 and I LOVE my job. Anyways they thought I was lying just to get out of seeing my mom and that set me into a depression I cannot do anything without them butting into my life. I have a wonderful life but they constantly pull me down. My doctor just put me on depression medications which will help. I needed to get this out they are bullies honestly.

I would invite them and accept their invitations on rare occasions. How rare? As rare as you feel comfortable. If they talk about you, so what? Tell them you're busy. Simple as that. Too busy to see them? Maybe but you don't have to insult them by putting it that way. You're just busy, that's all. If they learn to be decent and respectful toward you as you are toward them, then see them more. If they continue disrespecting you then see them less. It may take years but they will get the picture.
