Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.
So I just bought a house and am the last child to get out of my parents house (and the only son)...my dad isn't taking it so well. My parents are not in a good place in their marriage and I've dreamt of the day I can get away from all the fighting. While looking for houses he constantly made comments about a room being "his room"...with every intention of moving in with me.
I havent even moved into my house yet and my dad keeps joking about when I'm going to be setting up the spare room for him and recently asked if he could have a spare key so he can come over when he feels he needs to (to escape my mom). I'd given my mom a key so she could shampoo the carpets for me while I was at work.
When he had 2 weeks vacation from work he'd asked my sister if he could come to her house during the day and even asked for her work schedule so he could not be there when she's trying to sleep (she's a nurse).
I feel he expects me to be okay with it, but he's known to overstay his welcome. I don't want him to think he can treat my home as his.
He's the kind of person where if you say you can't do something he'll ask follow-up questions trying to find ways he can convince me to rearrange my schedule or suggest ways I could: example: I dont want to go to church at 11am because I work from 4pm-8am and want to sleep during the afternoon after I go grocery shopping. He'll say can't Becca (my fiance) go grocery shopping, etc. It's so annoying.
It's all getting to me...has anyone else dealt with this?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

You can say that you look forward to cooking a Sunday dinner for him and you are also looking forward to your own space
Maybe encourage therapy for your parents or mediation to help solve problems...
He's pushing boundaries so upfront will hopefully nip it in the bud..... Big hug.....xo
