i have 1 adult child, my only child, and haven't spoken to him or seen him for 9 months. he says he hates me and never wants to see me again and i have chosen to honor his wishes, although it has literally ruined my life. the funny thing is, i don't even know what set him off...

I have no contact with my siblings. It is much more peaceful that way; not having to wait for the next assault. For me, it is a relief.

I don't have contact with any of my siblings except one and only via txt..or email. We mainly do this to buffer each others experiences with our parents...Our childhood was pretty messed up, and they all think I had it better then any of them (they are all much older than me, I am the youngest of 5)...anyway, my one sibling and I talk now after years of not because I told her how it really was for me at home w/o them there...She was appauled...she had no idea and I think that she realized her interpretation was warped and is trying to the big sis I needed so much...but it's hard, we don't have a relationship that will amount to anything, and I know we never will. My other siblings - I will probably see them if one of our parents dies (god forbid)...but it's the truth...I'm okay with it. It just brings up bad memories to see them, talk to them, etc...and they are all so mad all the time, and treat me like a baby (cuz that is how they stil see me)...

I feel your pain and confusing. I have a 27 year old daughter who would rather choose a lazy boyfriend over her family, but the worst part is she left me with paying her school loan

After my dad died, my mother gave my sister a precious token of my dad's that I truly cherished. They knew how much it meant to me - it was the only thing of my dad's that I wanted. But, my mom gave it to my sister anyway and then lied to me about it. It's been 10 years and I still feel betrayed. I even had to go to a counselor to deal with my feelings about my dad's death and this betrayal.

I am cordial to them now and will talk via text and messenger, but I don't go back home like I used to and I don't talk to them unless I have to. That relationship is damaged and will never be like it was. They are both bipolar and very ill. I keep tabs on my mom through a friend of hers. I also check on her every couple of weeks. But, it's not like it used to be.

Yes. I am planning on 'loosing' contact with my familly once I move away. They are very difficult and manipulative. My mum wants me to stay within 1 hours travel so she can visit me when she wants to and so I can look after her.

Thats not gonna happen. EVER.
