Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.
Hi this all new to me but I have literally no one to talk. I am a 22 female suffering from anxiety and depression. I also have emotional abusive parents. I was also adopted at 18 months and though my siblings were also adopted, they were still related through blood relation to my adoptive father. He is actually their grandfather. Those siblings made me very aware that I was different and had no blood relation. My adoptive mother has a biological though a pre marriage. She is also 14 years younger then my adoptive father. My relationship with my adoptive mother is not very healthy. I say we even hate each other. Let’s just say she is not always the fuzzy warm mother. I always discovered she is having an affair with another man. A man who is also married. Of course she has denied it and eventually I tried telling my dad. He didn’t believe me of course and I was made to look like an a$$. My mom seems to love male attention and gets jealous of me when I am the one getting it. Her behavior around men is odd and a little questionable. I feel like I am in competition with her. My dad always takes her side in every situation. I don’t know what to do. I feel it’s hard to show someone respect to so someone who seems to only love herself. My dad does everything for her and is extremely supportive. I know this is a lot to read but I really to need someone I can talk to.

Does anyone follow her? She's really got some good tips.

a complicated history. And also journaling might help.
Anxiety and depression can come from many things. Not only from family stress.
I thought my anxiety was self inflicted. I found out many, many years later I had a thyroid problem.
It wouldn’t be a bad idea to see your family doctor and get your “female” hormones (like estrogen) tested and a T.S.H. And free T3 & Free T4 tested. Also, any vitamin deficiences. What happens is when you are under a lot of stress, ones body doesn’t operate well and could mess with the food we eat and vitamins we take....which lead to deficiences......which can lead to a mood change. (Hence, anxiety.
The other thing I suggest, as you are 22 years old, going to school or having a job keeps you out of the house. If you don’t have one, go to a place like a library or a museum to have quiet time to yourself.
I highly suggest that the drama that is going on in your home should be “their” issues, not yours. Look, life gives us enough things on our plate to handle. We should not take on other people’s problems.
You are at a great age. A time to explore an d get out on your own. Be creative, share an apartment with a few roommates (I did) and take control of your life. You will feel better for it.
Unless you enjoy being a part of a “soap opera” move on. Your stress and depression will lift.
I wish you well. Go enjoy your life!
