Family & Friends of Cancer Patients Support Group
This community is dedicated to parents, siblings, grandparents, other relatives, friends and caretakers of cancer patients. It's difficult to find a safe place to talk about caring for a loved one with cancer, and so this group serves as an open forum to foster positivity and support for those going through this tough time.
I am attending my first year of college and I plan to major in psychology and minor in adminstration. My goal is to someday open a center which would be a clinic too. At this center, cancer patients can recieve chemo therapy and other treatments for their illness from professional doctors. My hope is that this center will be far different from a hospital. There would be words of inspiration on the walls, colorful rooms, a garden outside, comfortable chairs to sit in etc. Also, cancer patients and their loved ones and friends can also recieve counseling (coping, greif, etc.) in the same building. I'd like to also build money raising foudations through a center like this. Would something like this be a good idea? Thoughts, ideas, pros, cons?

Do you need qualifications to run this sort of centre, maybe medical or counselling qualifications? What about job experience working in similar types of organisations? Maybe a place to start is working for a cancer charity or foundation? If I were you I would contact Maggie's and ask them some questions about how you might get to work in a similar organisation, if they know of any that exist where you live, and what sort of qualifications and experience you need. I would contact US cancer charities with similar questions. People are happy to talk about their job and help others especially in a field like this one.
