This community is dedicated to parents, siblings, grandparents, other relatives and friends of someone who is Bipolar. The purpose of this community is to help families and friends develop greater patience and understanding, as well as maintain a positive, caring relationships with those diagnosed as Bipolar.
My husband was recently diagnosed as being bipolar. Trust me, neither of us wanted to deal with this, but here we are. My question is where does one draw the line between being supportive and crippling an individual? On the one hand I get that there are some things that my husband just cannot handle well, but other times it seems like the task is simple enough to handle, but he wants me to take care of it because he is used to me taking care of everything. When should I take over and when should I encourage him to handle things on his on?
