Hi, so thankful for this group and to be able to join and ask a few questions. I have been involved for over 1 year with a man age 44 who once said he was "possibly diagnosed with a mild form of bipolar." He does not believe in using words like "diagnosis" or "disease." He does not adhere to the idea that large numbers of people could all have the same criteria. He is against medication but I suspect at least at sometimes he uses it. But hides it from me. He only refers to his diagnosis as a "condition." I don't know what it must be like so I don't judge and let him manage it how he wishes. He is the healthiest person I know, medically, and calm most of the time. The condition has interfered relatively little with our relationship - little enough that I am still around and happy to be in the relationship. Until suddenly, as spring is coming, we had a difficult weekend with some arguing and suddenly he is too depressed and overwhelmed and cannot see me for a month. I happen to be a social worker and know that spring can bring on episodes for those with bi-polar. So I pieced together that he is in an episode. But, he is saying nothing and won't see me, so he could have also moved to Hong Kong, for all I know. I want to be supportive, and give him space. Tricky. Just how far do I let the lack of communication go?

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

Someone with Bipolar is generally not episodic - untreated episodes might not appear for years but they generally do appear and untreated the general trend is for worsening episodes.
