Just checking out a few of the posts and and while reading some of this appears to be giving me a glimpse into the future, it is a real struggle dealing with a child going through puberty and having juvenile bipolar.
It's pretty similar to your typical bipolar symptoms but things just happen more rapidly and manias and depression tend not to last quite as long as what I have read regarding adults.
Add in the already emotional climate of being a teen and in school and all the normal moodiness, well - I'm a hot mess.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

I came here hoping for support from other parents not a course in linguistics when I am exhausted from my daughter being out of control or as was the case last night hospitalizing her for 11th time in patient. Her follow-up will be her 13th time in partial program (perhaps outpatient to adults - I dunno I deal with a kid). I have been going at this for 3 years now and certainly do not need a stranger questioning what the unending stream of psychiatrists and psychologists have diagnosed.
No she doesn't hear voices. She does have some extreme paranoias which would be the only DSM-IV criteria fitting for co-morbid schitzophrenia.
Everything else is juvenile bipolar and no, it isn't the same as an adult. For starters, adults have gone through puberty and there bodies are no longer growing. They may need periodic medication dosage changes but my strong suspicion is they do not need it nearly every 3 mos or so. Also, cognitively a 12 year brain isn't as developed as an adult one so sometimes explaining skills to her is a bit tricky. She emotional due to puberty on top of bipolar.
So, can I ask your rationale in questioning me on semantics? Is it helpful? Is it supportive? No, it is not. Please, either be supportive or say nothing at all.
