Hi
My step brother deals with ongoing hearing voices, shouting loud for 20 + years now. Was on medication, till my aging mom put him in boarding home. He always coming back home and begging to move back home with us.
In November he was in mental ward but they let him go. Since then, he shouts,on whatever voices he hearing...indoors..outdoors and my neighbors do not help us to commit him for long term care. Now he is without any medication or doctors. The owner of his boarding home had enough and all. He lies, not violent and living with us without our approval. He threats my sister if we call 911, he will harm her. All he cares about begging for money for cigs or coffee. If we do not give him, he begs on the streets.
This putting stress on me, my mom and sister. Need Advice on what to do. The police had mention about restraining order.but we have not that yet.
Any ideas?? Would be grateful thanks.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

does he hear the voices all the time - in which case he is either schizoaffective or schizophrenic - sounds as if he's in a very vulnerable state - he obviously needs medical attention.
I agree with acuriousfish, he sounds more like a schizophrenic. You should get him to a doctor, get a real diagnosis and proper medication. Maybe then a retraining order won't be necessary.
If you still feel like it is though, don't feel bad for getting one. Of course it'd be better if there was some way to help him, but at some point you have to think about yourself and your family. My mother and I got one for my father and while he didn't stay away it was reassuring to know that we could call the police on him every time he showed up.
Good luck!
Again...Thanks anyway for your kind replies...Be well.
