Hi, my boyfriend is very adamant that marijuana helps with his treatment. No doctor or therapist he has come in contact with supports this theory. I don't know where I stand on the issue but when he's manic he smokes a lot more than usual and it only amplifies his paranoia. I was wondering what the rest of you thought in regards to marijuana as a treatment option?

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

I fall into the camp of it being very individual, when it clearly makes things worse it's a mistake. I wouldn't recommend trying it if you've never tried it before either because it is incredibly variable in strength and content.
People who are bipolar and people who are not bipolar self-medicate, and some self-medicate with pot. Marijuana is addictive, don't believe all that bullshit mumbo-jumbo about "natural remedies" - anything that makes your blood sugar drop like a stone is obviously affecting you in a negative way. (That's where the "munchies" come from in case you didn't know.)
Your boyfriend is avoiding becoming stable, and he's lying to his doctors if he's not telling them that he is smoking dope and screwing with his treatment. And he must ne getting it illegally, and thus committing a crime each time, too, right? I can't see anything good about that, can you?
The only time marijuana has legitimate medical uses is when it is being prescribed by a qualified, licensed medical doctor. Usage for chemo patients, diabetics with eye problems, that sort of thing. That's not your boyfriend's problem.
