Hello all.

I'm Hanna. My 8 year old son has been diagnosed with mood disorder, NOS. And I, myself, have Bipolar Disorder. I am a member of both groups since some of my questions and concerns would resonate better within this group rather than the other.

Please let me know if I am not welcome here due to my illness. Perhaps I can be of some help to some people's questions? I don't know, but I am just another parent of a child with a mood disorder and sometimes I can't take it. I'll take support when I can get it.

i dont know about everybody else. im new to all of this myself. i would not have a problem talking to you. my son is now turning 17 and has been BP for all of his life. welcome.

Hi Hanna, I find it encouraging and helpful to talk to members who have bipolar disorder. My mom has bipolar disorder. Sometimes it is hard to talk to her about it.

My husband was dx'd with a "mood disorder" a few years back & told to never go on antidepressants & rx'd Lamictal.. He stopped taking Lamictal because it made him have headaches.. (in the past he had tried SamE which made him irritable and mean) He seems to go through hypomanic phases but no real actual depression.. maybe a little down at times, but not depression..
He goes through periods where he thinks he does not need to sleep & talks super fast.. though he is not nearly as impulsive as I am, well I am just worse all around..

But here is the thing- he refuses treatment totally now & really is not supportive nor does he like psychiatry.. He does admit that the meds I am on are helpful though, which is baffling.. & surprisingly I do feel like eventhough I do have an issue with low level depression & a lil hypomania here and there - I actually amd more calm and seem a bit more stable at times than he is - haha.. Ah life..
