My husband is currenlty experiencing an episode of mania. He is now on 200mg of lomicatal and 300mg of seraquel. He has been on the seraquel for five weeks (exactly) and he is still maniac in terms of his grandious ideas. He is trying to start a new company and hire all sorts of people to implement his maniac idea's. He is extremely convincing, and he has the financial capability to pull this off. It is very stressful for me because (of course) he won't tell me who is trying to hire. My question is, how long does it usually take for the seraquel to work (so my husband realizes his grandious ideas are not practical or realistic - his thinks his new company is going to change the world.). He is sleeping about 8 hours a night so his psyciatrist assures me the seraquel is working, and says any higher dosage of seraquel would make him a zombie. Thanks for you responses.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

While it's important to get sleep because sleep deprivation is both a cause and symptom of mania, I'd suggest the psychiatrist also needs to attend to the grandiose ideas because people can seriously screw themselves in that state.
Is the psychiatrist aware the mania is continuing?
btw, people regularly take 1000mg of seroquel and I don't know how the doctor can predict the effect of a higher dose because it is very individual.
