I feel all that u are saying. I felt like I was reading my own note, but it's your's & he is so young. That is the age, that I believe, my son started, but we just figured it was the age, then the pot & drinking. He really wasn't that bad then, but let me tell you it gets much worse. He won't accept it either & self medicates. That's what they have to do. With my son, it's all day. I wished I had done that for my brother, because I believe, he was also bipolar, but don't know if that would have helped either. Try to do anything you can for him, while he's this young. Do anything in your power you can do. Take this from one that has lost a brother to his drinking & whatever. Ultimately he got killed trying to hold on to a truck. Just a sad soul that I would have given anything to help. Now I have a son that I would give anything to try to save from himself. I know that my brother loved me as a brother does, so maybe in one of his moments that you both may have, try to talk to him &
get him to go someplace where there are people his age & make it seem like it's the best place in the world to be with activities & all. Maybe you can actually find someplace that offers things like that, with help included in the whole scheme. Don't stop trying right now. THis is when he needs you the most. Your mother is in denial, as mine was. She would never stick to what she said & not sure that I was any better. That is why I can give this advise to you right now. I've been there &
I'm back there now reliving it all.
Take a BIG hug for yourself & go for it!!!
If not, you might want to contact the Dept. of Social Services and ask their advice. Your mother is disabled and you have cp, which make both of you vulnerable to abuse by him. You and your mother need protection, and your brother needs more help than you can give him. It will only get worse if he does not get help.
This is a very hard thing to do. You sound very caring. As hard as it is, it has to be done. You and your mom are entitled to some peace and wellbeing.
