Don't let your husband's behavior come between you and those you love. Let those people know that you understand and respect how they feel about him, but that you really need their love & support. Maybe you spend time with them away from him until he is stabilized. Also, look up NAMI & DBSA, they have some fantastic (and free) support groups that hopefully are near you. This site is great, but to be in a room full of people that are in the same boat as you is a incredible feeling. Good luck, and stay strong!
:( i was able to get threw it by going to a counselor myself and they help me understand that my well being is just as important as my wifes not only for me but for her.... If I let myself get out of control or depressed it will just make everything does feel like a ton of bricks falling on you. If you can get out with friends and laugh for a while it is what I have found to be remarkable for me.The second thing that has really helped is having a place to vent that doesnt judge (Friends and family might seem open to it but you get much more out of talking with others in the situations you are dealing with) I know this statement might be easier said than done in a bipolar relationship but it is very true !!! THE MORE POSSITIVE YOU CAN STAY THE BETTER OF YOU WILL BE...... GET out have fun and try!!!!! to enjoy your life and hopefully with the right meds it will all come around for the 2 of you.
I wish you the best of Luck and stay positive because I know we can all do this:-) If we were not strong people we wouldnt be here to help each other we would be running from our problems. So just hang in there
One ray of light came from a member called Perfecthush. I should email her to ask her to tell her story bc it is amazing. Basically, she was physically and emotionally tortured as a child by her mom. Her mom had bp1 and a friend convinced her to start running as a hobby and to stop abusing the ones she loved. A friend being the one to say all this was key. Her mom di refuse meds but started training for a marathon. She rarely got manic after that. The running really worjed to smooth out her moods. I can tell you that i run to mabage my bipolar type 2 but only a couple hours a week. Then, i meditate. Those two are both necessary for me.
Now i have to find a peer to convince hubby to get uo off his behind, put down the cigarette, and run.
Its very understandable that you feel alone. The important thing is that you are here reaching out to others! I also agree that you have to find time here and there for yourself. You are a very busy mom and wife and not only need, but deserve a bit of quiet time and pampering once in a while. Even if it's only 30 minutes alone in a bubble bath.
Keep sharing and reading here hon. I think it will help you immensely with your troubles.
Hugs!
