Hello.
I have read every kind of book everywhere on trust, families, alienation, abuse, mental health, inner peace, etc. and go to church daily, use prayer, even tried various 12 step programs, made amends to those I have hurt, said I was sorry and asked forgiveness, even said sorry when I had nothing to be sorry for, etc. and have gotten alienated from many people in my life.
ALL OVER ONE INCIDENT!
It all started with my 20 year old daughter. I thought I was a wonderful Mother to my daughter and she did one awful thing to me that basically has wrecked me on many levels and ruined many relationships, my livelihood, my mental health, and she will not allow me to speak to her or her new husband and I’m never to see her child/my grandchild again due to her severe alienation.
She then has smeared my name and reputation to my parents and siblings and they have all turned on me- basically believing my daughter and alienating me from all of their lives now.
There is only one person who I keep in touch with who actually cared to listen to the story, which is my lovely Father.
My husband and sons are also along for this sad ride of alienation- being greatly affected by my daughter cutting all of us out of her life. My 18 year old son is not doing well mentally with my daughter doing this - they used to be best friends and he never speaks to her now!
I feel ashamed, guilty, embarrassed, depressed, etc. and nobody will talk to me! My entire family and friends know I’m a wonderful person and would give the shirt off my back to anybody, deal with problems head on, never like conflict, always create solutions, etc. I used to be called Theresa (ie. Mother Theresa) in the medical field where I worked because I am very very kind. A hospice volunteer, giving money away to people anonymously that need it, etc. I feel like I’ve only been a good person and an outstanding mother, friend, sister, spouse.
I have always been successful, or thought I was, I had two companies in the healthcare field that were successful.
But I define success by being a good person that has compassion and love for people. I have tried to also raise a wonderful healthy family, raise children to be accountable for their lives and to be good people. I am shocked my daughter has turned on me and it’s devastating.
I have always given my heart soul, money, everything to my family and friends, especially my family!!
I am sitting here now in disbelief that my family members and my own daughter have turned on me and have thrown me in a dumpster and thrown dirt on me from a big pile of delusional lies and deceit. I’m having difficulty getting over it.
I have been to a couple of clinical psychologists and even a psychiatrist and they all say it has nothing to do with me it has everything to do with my daughter and some of my family members who are siding with my daughter. So hmmmm just live my life? How can I?
So my question is why is it me who is the one that is so hurt, with insomnia, etc. I can’t seem to move on because all these people think rotten of me and nobody is willing to listen to the story, the correct story that is.
My daughter has gotten me into such a bad situation and I’m finding it difficult to pull myself out. The only thing I can do is pray for these evil people that have done this to me.
I’m not about bad things happening to people, like bad karma, I want only good to come to people. I have been taught through the church to pray for those that are mean to me, what else can I do? But even during all of my prayers and constant vigil, the evil doers continue doing what they’re doing and hurting me immensely.
It is hard to stand up to people that won’t even answer a text or email or phone call.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Grabie
I agree with the Psychologist and Psychiatrist. It's more about your daughter than it is about you. In your writing you mentioned that you're a good person with a good heart and that you have devoted everything to your friends and family. Kudos to you. That's beautiful. Perhaps too maybe you're having trouble accepting that those people are seeing you as anything but good? As hard as it may be, try and let those people go including your daughter. Place them in Gods hands and never stop praying for them, for your situation. It may be very hard to let your daughter go but you must surrender her and the situation in order allow God to move through her and the situation. Sometimes Gods work can take a lifetime and sometimes it can happen over night. We don't know. Only God knows. Never lose hope though. Ask God to show you if there is anything that you may have done wrong that you're not aware of. Ask him for strength and courage to face these tough times. Above all, never stop looking up. <3
