youth charged as adult

Is there anyone out there dealing or had delt with your child or knows some one going through this horrible justice system. I have a son who was 15 years old when he was arrested and is being charged as an adult. i can't believe my BOY first is being accused of being an adult, is facing 25 years if it goes thru trial, and has never been in the justice system before.

All I can say is I am so sorry for you having to go through such an ordeal when he is so young. It's hard enough when they are grown dealing with it. Hopefully someone here will have some experiance with this to share with you. In the meantime, try and stay strong and keep coming here for support and understanding. There are so many really good hearted people here who care very much.

Missing - my son was not that young when he got into trouble, he was 17 but the girl involved lied and said their encounter happened when he was 18. My son has been on probation, was in prison for 2 1/2 years and on parole for 2 1/2 years which he just finished. In addition, he will be on the sex offender registry the rest of his life on a level 3 rating, the highest there is. While I don't know your circumstances, I am a mom, and I know just how the heartbreak you feel while they are locked away is overwhelming. I understand and there are many people here who understand so you have come to a good place. You can vent, cry, laugh, share, or rage here with no one judging you. Sadly there is no justice in our justice system, it is the most punitive and archaic system in the world. Bless you and your son, and welcome to a good place.

is there a chance the Public Defender can convince the DA to bring his charges down to the Juvinile justice court not as an adult

oneofthem -- "victimized by this abusive system". Perfectly stated. It is such a sick system that pretty soon we will all be on the sex offender registry for something!

Yes, my son was 17 and waived in to adult court. Your defense attorney can fight this! I wouldn't stop until he does!

tthat is what i do not understand they say at 15 their minds are not fully developed and can not understand what they are doing yet when that same 15 year old does a crime all of a sudden they are a adult and can think and act like a adult i have said for awhile now they can not have it both ways..................justice if there is justice anymore in the US then i am white!
