As we are winding down this year I thought it would be fun or interesting for us to post the most favorite and most absurd stories that happened this year involving the sex offender arena that have come to light in news papers, television, court cases, and so on. So, find your stories, post the links and tell us why they are your most favorite and most absurd story.
My most favorite is recent radio broadcast http://www.mdn.org/2013/STORIES/SORTS.HTM because the reporter did such an awesome job at exposing a side of the civil commitment story that those in government go to great efforts and lengths to conceal from the public, moreover, from legislators. And because the reporter did not do what so many in the media do in wanting to spin things to promote a media agenda instead of telling the truth.

I mean what idiot is going to believe that judges are going to give the same person probation five times over after committing a new sex crime each and every time - oh that's right, Representative Jay Barnes that's who.

The full impact of this alleged "journalism" has yet to be felt but it has already caused changes in legislation and cost the head of the Sexually Violent Predator Program.
My favorite would have to be a report rather than a news story. The report was an audit of Florida's SVPP that took great care to touch on every point raised by the Sun Sentinel and concluded one of the biggest issues with the program was over committing people! Unfortunately the press didn't really jump on reporting about this fact.
