After reading the article in its entirety, I still believe it is because they stopped teaching any critical thinking in our elementary and secondary schools about 25 years ago. I remember when it was common to 'question everything', now it seems that society wants us to question nothing. For it makes taking away our civil and constitutional rights that much easier.

I have found that the only way for people to 'change' in any way is if there is something that has devastated them directly, for in order for people to realize their information was wrong is to get caught in the same web of BS of those that they criticize. When Valerie has a relative or child that gets arrested for being a teenager or whatever, she will 'see it', until then, she will see only what she wants to.

I think you are correct, Wisonsin...when it becomes personal (and God forbid that it ever should), then people tend to change their ideas. I know that I have received quite the education since this happened to our family.

History teaches that society and government officials commonly target one class of people to lash out on and hate; whether directly, by willful blindness or deliberate indifference to the human and civil right violations going on.

Moreover, society typically acts with deliberate indifference until such time as a member of society finds themselves in the same boat - then and only then it becomes an entirely different story for they demand a cure to that which they themselves did not previously care about.
