You know how there's not a lot you can do for your loved one who's in jail? It seems the system is always working against you. Still it feels better if I can put into words what I'm feeling on this site. It's a roller coaster of emotions enough to make you crazy. I am a Christian so I'm always looking at things from that perspective, but I'm also a human being and a Mom and this is ripping my heart out. My son is 26 and it looks like 9yrs and a lifetime of registration for him. I found out last year that he was molested as a toddler and that may have been what tweeked his thinking and emotions. He's been tormented so long and now this. It's so hard to think of him when he was little and to look at the pictures of him growing up and that innocent little boy grin. I visited him again today and sometimes I just let him "purge" and get things out even though sometimes it's something no mother wants to hear. I know I'm not alone in learning what unconditional love is all about but sometimes I think " anything but this,"you could have told me anything but this!
Since there is only so much I can do for him, I wrote a letter to advocate for leniency. His sentence could have been much worse but I just needed to write.

You're right, these situations do tear your heart apart, along with your marriage and your family. When my two year old grand daughter (She's now 5) went to bed after her daddy was sentenced, she used to wrap her arms around herself and say," Good night Daddy, I love you'. As if she were giving him a hug every night. She would look out her bedroom window that faces the direction where her father, my son, is incarcerated.
When I would lay her down, we said prayer. Her prayer from that day until now is, GOD please bring my Daddy home right now!"
It just breaks my heart! As Christians, it is so hard to tell them to trust in GOD to make things better. When, sometimes we doubt our own hopes, prayers and dreams. But that's what faith is, trust and hope.
That's all we can do is trust and hope.
