wished 1100 people would come in group and chat with us and be of support . where are they all ? i know theres got o be more families with registrants . and wives who have kids and or hubs whom have kids that can relate back with us families who have hubs or wives on registry and kids going thru stuff cause of it . . i hope they are all ok and come to chat here someday .

Maybe some may not know of this site, it took months after my husband's arrest before I found it; and it was a fluke. I was researching info when this group came up in a google search.

I've had my so bf for five years and just became aware of this. I didn't know how to handle a situation that had come up. I wasn't sure if he was paranoid or if he was reacting logically. He had recently been having trouble with someone saying false things about him. When he went in to register at the police department, as he has for the last nine years, the policeman took him to an interrogation room and said that someone had reported that he was seen talking in front of his house to children. TOTALLY UNTRUE! Then he came home from work one day and there was rotten food on his porch. The sad thing is we think we know who is doing the things but we can't prove it. But they sure have made his life uncomfortable. BTW He has lived in that house for over 40 years. Bottom line. I thought I needed somewhere safe to read and learn, and I think I have found it here.

It can get very "lively" on here from time to time , discussion-wise. But on here you will find a really great bunch of people.

I'm just so glad I found this site. Wish there were more like it.

I am here, but don't say much. My husband's and my troubles began just 3 months ago. I appreciate the commentary and postings of everyone it helps me understand more during this difficult time.

I have been coming to this forum for a few years but just recently enrolled. The hardest step is involvement. I was registered for a simple sexual assault on an adult that occurred over twenty years ago. It was retroactive, and blew my mind away when I was forced onto the registry rolls after a change in the law. I never experienced much of the oppression that many here have experienced. I have been off the registry for years. (I am a lucky one!) I never experienced anything like therapy, or polygraphs, or compliance checks. Just yearly picture and paper signing. However, the consequence is lifelong: Civil death. I understand that, so I still advocate for change.

I am interested in legal activism and in continued understanding of the legislation that effects ex-offenders. I joined when a topic came up that I had specific knowledge about. Sometimes that is all it takes to net a new member.

The headlines of the posts, I feel, are important when understanding what this group is about. Many come here with distressed hearts, and it is our jobs to educate them about activism. That is my view. Those who are labeled are marked for life (even those who have registration-expiration dates).

This is a lifelong, uphill battle with no end in sight. I hope to help out from time to time.

true sadigh, many that come here use it as a steppingstone and move on to more active groups once the shock wears off and the anger begins. all it is really telling us is that the numbers are out there if we can organize we may be able to actually do something. it is coming and i will be there. hope the other 1099+ are too.
