Hi! I have no children but I can imagine how hard it must be not to wish him happy birthday.

I know there is no comparison, but unfortunately my mom lives thousands of miles away from and she always feels sad when my birthday comes. But I know that our hearts are united by the greatest love we have and you should feel very proud of him, for the love of each other have.

We are here to support you and I know that God is with both of you!

I do understand - my heart breaks for my son each time his birthday rolls around - soon I hope he can spend his special day surrounded by his family as it should be!

My son's birthday just passed and it also broke my heart. I am dreading the holidays as I will not be seeing my son for the next four years (hopefully). I feel your pain sweetie and if I could I would give you a big hug so we can cry together and be strong for our child. We will get through this, we have no choice. Just think about when he gets home how special those birthday's will be.

My son"s birthday is in November. This will be the 2nd one he has had since being incarcerated. It breaks my heart. People look at what he did and not who he is. I'm not saying it isn't horrible what he did but that is not who he is.

I completely understand and sympathize with you Heartbroken. My sons release was supposed to be a month ago and because of "administrative delays", he won't be released until after his birthday in November at the earliest. He has been in for 12 years and was sent out of state (2000 miles away) to a private prison for 4 of those years.

Your son knows you love him, even if you don't hear from him. That's always the most important thing. Hang in there and know some of us share your pain.

My son is also out of state - 9 hours out of state and my car would never make the trip. We are strong women and our son's are closer to us than anyone else in the world. Pray, write and love him - you are his lifeline as someone special told me. You take care of yourself so he can come home to a healthy mother.

Thanks everyone. My son tells his father, sister and brother that they need to write more. He tells them that I write all of the time. I think I write to him at least once a week or sometimes every other week depending on what is going on because we usually talk every Monday and Friday. I am hoping he got my other letter so that he will call me tomorrow on his birthday. This is his first birthday being in there. Sometimes I just hate this world! I will be there for him as long as the Good Lord keeps me here. I workout about 6 times a week and I also teach Zumba so my ticker is good except for being Heartbroken. Well know I know why In been feeling down! My son is in lock down. Wow. His bday is tomorrow. I'm so worried that he will take his life. I'm so upset. My life has fast forwarded to what???????

my daughters birthday was the end of may. her brother and i used postal postcards. drew pictures and then colored them. the county jail she was in allowed nothing but postcards. no letters and no cards would be accepted.

i got a letter from her today telling me about one of the other women she is in with having her birthday, my daughter and other women that are friends of the birthday on all got together and made birthday cards for her. plus few of the girls chipped in and traded stuff to another prisoner there that makes cards out of old ones and pics out of magazines. she said the birthday girl broke down and sobbed at one of the tables in common area of the unit. kelly wrote that it kinda broke her heart to see her cry so hard. she said the girl very seldom gets any mail...

we are gonna have to figure out something that we can do for some kind of christmas card. i have contact paper so will probably use a sheet of green and make her a christmas tree that she can tape up in her locker!

Its just very sad to say the least. Its not just our loved ones in there going through this ordeal, its our Families. ;-(

Our thoughts are with you and your son. We're just a few weeks into this and already it seems like years. Living without your loved one for such a long time, and knowing that they are isolated from everyone who cares about them. Heartbreaking is the only word.
