Okay, I have been obsessing over a Halloween issue, and I'm so angry I can't see straight.
I know that all of us have different restrictions and so forth, but I don't know where to find this answer.
In our state, it was known that if you are on probation or parole, you are not to decorate, have lights on, open your door, and must remain in your home from 5 p.m.-----5 a.m.. If you are homeless, you must report to a designated place.
But, here's my issue...I posted a OPERATION BOO 2011, PARENT'S GUIDE sent out to schools etc. in our state.
It lists instructions, first it tells them to study the Megan's sex offender registry, then they include a coloring badge to color with your child and the parent is to wear it on Halloween.
Then, it tells the parents to call 911, if they see a sex offender open their door! If all parents do this, it could potentially flood the 911 system. Then if someone was dying, they might not get the help they need.
Plus, it puts every sex offender at risk of some nut hurting them.
Finally, my question: In your state, once someone is not on probation or parole, can they open their door?

Even if they are not on probation or parole? So they can never be out of town on Halloween?
I know my boyfriend is afraid they won't get anyone because of looking him up.
Personally I think it is all just stupid.
I hate those websites now.
What if someone just makes it up or someone else living in that same house is opening the door to leave or something and they are like "Oh my they are opening their door!"
