It's rough. One idea..get a dog and take the dog and the kids to the dog park and play catch...most people at the dog park will probably be adults working together to train a dog can be a a family activity at home or in public. .Maybe get involved with a group that watches the stars and the planets most of those people are adults (I don't know how old your kids are) anyway you can also carry that hobby home and also star gaze on the back deck at home. No Chuckie Cheese, no Disney land no place that makes it's money through attracting children. Nothing is worth going back to jail again.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a "Family" place for RSO's. Maybe try walks in the woods or going to a private beach? Renting movies from Redbox for watching at home? I occasionally go to movie theaters but only the later shows.

We have a chaperon program in Texas that allows us some more freedoms.

I am my guys chaperon, basically a certified tattle tale.

We go to state parks, the movies (weeknights only), the mall and have gotten permission to go to certain museums though we haven't yet.

Anything blatantly labeled "Family friendly" is an automatic no go. We can't go bowling or anything like that.

Unfortunately, as everyone is saying, there isn't a lot of options. My PO told me when I was on probation that I could do most anything during school hours, like go to a movie or bowling. But from like 2-10 stay out of any "family friendly" areas. So I would either see a movie at 10am it 10pm, but nowhere in between. My PO was more than happy to approve me going to bars at night since they knew I didn't have an alcohol problem and I was going to school and holding down a job. PO said they would disallow bars if I ever had police contact which seemed fair to me.

I would think hiking would be a family activity you could all do together. Fishing as well. I had friends who made a list of 100 places in the state they wanted to go and see/hike. State monuments and hiking and camping type of thing and they did it over 2 years, seems like something you guys could all plan together and have fun with.

Of course I'd run any plans like that through the PO to make sure it's okay, but there are still some things you can all do.

There are no legal restrictions where I live regarding where an SO can be, though some towns have imposed residency restrictions and schools prohibit RSOs from being present.

As others have mentioned, I'd try perhaps a state or national park, fishing, camping, or hiking. Would something like an art gallery or opera be a possibility (not to everyone's taste, I know, and not all operas are appropriate for younger audiences.)

In a pinch, you could try Toledo (apologies to anyone from that fair city.)

independent what would you do when school was out for summer ?

My PO told me movies were still ok if I went at 10pm, just not to go during the day. I just told my PO here is what I want to do how can I make this happen and be in compliance with what you want. It seemed to work out okay.

Before my husband was arrested, we liked to take a day trip. Just get in the car and drive stop at a truckstop or little dinner ,eat and drive home. Would that be allowed for a SO?

Probably so long as you didn't cross any state lines ( or stop for dinner at some Chuckie Cheeze" LOL) . We live near Lake Tahoe but can't take a drive around the entire lake because some of the drive goes 'out of state' nor can we go on the Tahoe Queen because it goes across the lake into into "inter-state' waters...Say...just wondering ... if you live on the coast and want to take a fishing day trip and the boat goes outside the 20 mile US limit...do you have to get your passport stamped because you left the Territorial US? Just pointing out how ridiculous all this "supervision" is....and how ineffectual all this nit-picky stuff is in providing any thing except a paycheck and large budget for "Those whot must be obeyed"

We live in Kansas. Not much fun here, but we like to just head out and drive a couple of hours. We can stay in Kansas. We live in the KC metropolitan area.

Once off paper in PA, my hubby can go anywhere. We just waited, his PO wasn't comfortable giving permission to "family places" with the exception of the state parks, not because he didn't trust my husband but just because of potential headaches if someone called and reportred

as for movies and the mall and such, he could go to those even on paper. His stipulation was against being alone with females under 18.
Good thing, cos we always go to the matinee (cheaper) movies

Just driving for a few hours and eating at a diner does not put your husband in a place where kids congregate so that would be perfectly fine.
