http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_18492755?IADID=Search-www.mercurynews.com-www.mercurynews.com ok here you have a guy and his brother who beats up another man for molesting his step daughter were they right in doing so? well they did take the law into their own hands but what i find disturbing is the comment section on this story most of the people are outraged at the DA's office because the DA filed charges on this guy and his brother some of the comments i read people were wanting to find out who this guys Lawyer was so they could send money for his defense they also are saying that the DA should be run out of town for bringing charges in the first place is this what this country has come to? are we going back to the lynch mob mentality when it comes to someone who perpetrates a sex crime according to some people they are not allowed to have rights and when they do get a lawyer which by our laws they are entitled to everybody has a fit and starts screaming for his blood as well saying things like"how can you defend such a person"? everyone deserves their day in court i don't care if you are a abusive cop or a DUI driver THAT is how our laws work i could go on and on but i will leave it at that to all of you peace out and god bless................

I definitely understand the immediate reactions of the stepfather. However, cigarette butts? Really? That sounds more like torture to me than an impulsive reaction to devastating news. I think the DA is definitely taking it too far with them though. But I agree with you... these crimes are so taboo, and the offender quite literally becomes sub-human. He should no longer have rights as a human being in this country, or so most people think. In that way, I'm glad that the DA is making a point to say this behavior is unacceptable. The comments are scary. How can anyone receive a fair trial when these view points exist? (And I once held them myself.)

And they are so wrong about 'liberal Calif'. CA law puts every SO on registry for life, no gradations, tiers, risk assessment or exceptions.

what I find funny is that they are posting with Facebook accounts... Their real names more than likely... Maybe they should be gathered and listed on a site of potential vigilante folks? I know I am the devil's advocate on that issue... I don't think it is right morally, but a part of me, the vengeful part, would like to see them humiliated too...
