Volunteer Positions with RSOL
Research Assistants
Do you like digging for information online? Can you enter that information into a form? Then this job is just right for you! We are seeking researchers in several areas:
names of college/university faculty in criminal justice, social work, law, and psychology;
locating other criminal justice and re-entry reform organizations;
special events and conferences where RSOL could get its message out.
We cannot connect and grow if we don’t know who we’re connecting with! In addition, we can always use help in gathering and posting links to publications of all sorts that support our positions on sexual offense laws.
RSOL Special Committees
Several of our ongoing committees would eagerly seek your participation, especially the following:
Marketing and Membership Committee
Scarlet Legal Action Project
Communications (see also Guest Writers)
Conference Planning
Affiliate Development
Guest Writers
Do you have a gift for writing, and a passion for our Cause? We are on the lookout for good writers who can meet a deadline. Pieces include, but are not limited to blog posts, editorials, short articles, true stories, and position papers. RSOL reserves the right to edit writing to conform to our Vision and Mission, and to fit space limitations.
Administrative Assistant
The National RSOL calendar has really taken off lately, and we are needing someone to help keep everyone on task, on time, and aware of projects and deadlines. Are YOU that special someone who loves keeping up with details and helping others who are not so gifted? We NEED YOU. Tasks would include updating our public and admin-only calendars, attending telephonic meetings and staying on top of our various projects and committee goals. Other duties can be assigned depending on time and interest.
Correspondent
RSOL gets dozens of letters every month via US mail, and we would like to give everyone the courtesy of a response. We will provide cards and stationary, form letter templates for the most common types of letters, instructions and training for where to direct questions. We will reimburse for postage as needed. This is a great task for someone who cannot get out and about, but still wants to play an active part in RSOL’s work.
Membership Assistants
We are looking for some special people to take care of our growing membership. One person needs to be a people-person who enjoys connecting with others by phone and email, who can help provide a “human touch” for our members and donors. Another person needs an eye for details and some comfort with technology in order to search through our member and donor database for missing and duplicate info, fix errors, and produce reports.
State-Level Volunteer
If you are wanting to get involved at the state level, perhaps doing some of the same tasks outlined above, we will put you in touch with a Contact or Leader or affiliate organization, if one has been established in your state. If not, we hope you will consider becoming a Contact!
Coordinators
We have several leadership positions open for persons with management experience and good people skills. Coordinators are responsible for recruiting and training other volunteers and the state and national levels. Our volunteers are so essential to our success, and we need help finding them and keeping them engaged and successful. This would be a really great job for a retiree from HR looking for a meaningful and fullfilling post-career move!
State Contact
Many people who reach out to RSOL are seeking information or support in a particular state. Our state contacts help provide that link. Contacts pledge to learn all they can about their state laws and support networks, and make themselves available to respond to questions via email, phone, and post. There can be multiple contacts, dividing duties as they see fit.
Admin Team
Our Admin Team is RSOL’s hard-working board of directors. The team with its connected committees and projects is responsible for the overall direction and workings of our national organization and its related state organizations. Each year two seats on the team are open for election through an electoral committee populated by representatives from each state affiliate. Contact the Electoral Committee if you are interested in this position.
State Leaders-in-Training
Are you interested in getting information about sex offender issues out to the public and advocating for changing these laws in your state? State leaders are up to the challenge of reaching out to the general public as well as to lawmakers, and lobbying for or against new laws. They are learning how to analyze a bill, making connections with like-minded persons in their community and beginning to build an organization in their state if one does not already exist.
