Dose any one know how the Megans Web Site can use a 2013 picture and place it with a crime from 1979?.

I was 19 years old, I have never committed any other crime since. My picture on the Megans Web Site has made me guilty of a 33 year old crime every year, ever day they use a new picture for a crime from 1979

Any recent picture after the crime is wrong?

Well if you are on the registry that is how it is, get involved with your states group, help change this.

You are on the registry for a crime from 1979? I thought the cut off was in the 90s?

@Advocate - you are sadly mistaken. The largest state registry (CA - 100k+) goes back to the 40s. 1940s. The oldest dates I could find on the CA web site are a conviction from 1951 and a release in 1952.

Another good one is a guy who in 1954, at the age of 22 was convicted (convicted, mind you, who knows how old he was at the actual time) of "ATTEMPTED PRIOR CODE - RAPE BY FORCE AND/OR THREAT". So this may have just been a verbal threat? Again, 1952. On the internet, with his 80 year old photo and each of his surgical scars listed.

Everyone who has ever registered since 1947 still does (with a VERY few exceptions) and is subject to the whole kit and caboodle. Remember, it is not punishment, and Doe v. Harris just said that even a plea bargain created a contract, an agreement, that the state was allowed to modify via its changing laws.

@lifegonewrong - the CA web site only shows the most recent photograph, indeed. The overwhelming majority of profiles are blank in the spot where the conviction and release dates are. This despite a is a law that states that the State of California is required to add this information by 2010. This law is in the same code section that authorized the state to sentence registrants to prison for 3 years when they are a day late updating their annual registration.

Thanks for that clarification - is that something unique to CA or everywhere? I would have sworn that according to Fla (and the AWA) that only those convicted since 199? something were compelled to register?

I have kids and this law stops me from protecting them, its like I know all the sex offenders in CA. This sight should not be blocked seeing I have the right to protect my kids as well as any one esle

Dixon73, Is this a law that was passed by your state, I was not aware of this, I really do not understand why the cannot have access, heck it is their info too.
